Profile

Julie was born in Singapore (1991). Her family had to move to Malaysia for her father’s business ventures, and she spent her formative childhood years in the state of Kedah. Following her parents’ divorce in 1998, she returned to live in Singapore with her mother and elder sister to continue her primary school education. In 2008, she enrolled in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) to pursue a diploma in Fine Art (Sculpture).
From a young age, Julie has always possessed an interest in creating art. For her, it meant more than a means of self-expression: it served as both the retention and discontinuation of memory, and a way of coming to terms with her past without any confrontation of the past itself.
